The current training timetable (with effect from 1st October 2009) can be downloaded here.
Squad and Membership Fees
Squad fees must be paid by monthly standing order from your bank. Details of the fees for each squad can be viewed lower down the page.
It is the duty of the Parent/guardian to ensure that the correct fees are being paid in accordance with the schedule below. When changes are made to monthly fees notices will be included in Newsflyers and/or hand-outs from Class managers. Checks are made on standing order arrangements on a regular basis, but to avoid any embarrassment or difficulties we ask that all members are vigilant in their own checking procedures.
It is essential that the Swimmers Name in the Reference Section is included on the form to ease the checking procedures and to help further, it would be preferred if the squad name was included in this Reference, ie “Mary Smith D3”
The Club also charges a membership fee of £30.00 which is payable on joining the Club and each January thereafter.
The Governing Body of Welsh Swimming is called Swim Wales (formerly known as the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association – WASA). All Welsh Clubs have to be affiliated to Swim Wales, to enable them to operate and compete at home and abroad. In accordance with the rules of membership of Swim Wales, we are required to have every swimmer, coach and official to be formally registered as a member of Swim Wales, which also includes an insurance cover. The Club pays this on your behalf as part of the Squad Fees.
Class Managers
Each squad has one (or maybe two) class managers. These are parents of children in the squad, and they will take the register for the class at training, pass out information and act as a point of contact for queries within the squad. Contact details for the class managers can be viewed lower down the page. You will need to log in first.
Session Attendance
City of Cardiff Swimming Club appreciates that swimmers have other lives and that school work is important. Schoolwork must come first but it is our opinion that with planning – both can work alongside each other. A fit body helps a fit mind and City of Cardiff swimmers have in general – always performed well at school. If a swimmer cannot attend training for any reason please let the coach or class manager know.
Parents - please ensure that your Squad Coach has arrived at each of your Training Sessions before you leave your child. There have been previous instances where children as young as 7 years old have been left alone with no means of contacting their parents, which can be very upsetting to the child and potentially very dangerous.
Cancelled Sessions - Club Policy.
In the event of a 'designated squad coach' not turning up or being late, swimmers are to change and go home after waiting 15minutes on poolside. Swimmers should NOT enter the water at any time even if there is a lifeguard present. This is in line with our risk assessments and child protection policies.
Parents should ensure at every session that the designated squad coach has turned up before leaving their swimmer at the pool. It is not the responsibility of the leisure centre, swimming pool, class manager or other parents to look after swimmers should a training session have to be cancelled.
Bullying
Bullying of any sort – verbal or physical will not be tolerated at City of Cardiff Swimming Club and will be treated as a serious breach of discipline with the penalties described in the main section on discipline in this information pack. You are part of a team and you will be expected to show tolerance to other members.
