About Me:

I was born and raised in Cardiff where I`ve lived all my life. I joined City of Cardiff Swimming Club when I was 8 years old back in 1994 and swam for the club for 11 years until I was 19. Frontcrawl was my best stroke and backstroke was definitely my worst! After swimming I took up running for a few years and completed the Cardiff Marathon along with a number of half marathons and 10k’s. I went to Cardiff University to study Physiotherapy which I graduated in 2008. I currently work as a Physiotherapist in the days and coach in the evenings and weekends, starting with the club towards the end of 2008.

Favourite Sporting Moments:
Breaking a minute for the first time on 100fc in Reading; reaching the British Youth Nationals final for 100fc in Sheffield; finishing the Cardiff Marathon; representing the Cardiff Dragons to win the National Lifeguard Challenge in 2007; running the Bath Half Marathon in a monkey costume in the rain!
Qualifications:
A Levels – Biology, Psychology, PE (2004)
Physiotherapy Bsc (hons) (2008)
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (2004-)

Nick Holmes - Swim Club

"My elder daughter started with the City of Cardiff Swimming Club early in 1980.  Not being one to sit still and watch, Bryn Williams soon asked me to assist on poolside.  From there I qualified as teacher and national official.  During the 1990's I was involved with the organisation of the three Speedo Grand Prix Finals held inthe Wales Empire Pool, at which numerous international and Olympic swimmers competed.  Notably including Kristzina Egerszegi, Kristian Keller and Sandra Volker, along with the Hungarian, Canadian and British national squads. More recently I have been pleased to be a visiting official in ASA and GB events, where there is much to see and one can always learn from added experience.  I am currently involved with development squads and Club Squad".
