Gala Entries
It is importatnt that swimmers and parents appreciate the way that the fixtures list is put together. Events detailed on the fixtures list are often specifically aimed particular squads, ability ranges and training timescales - it is not a case if it is on the fixtures list you automatically enter. It is important that you check with your child's coach before you decide whether or not to enter a particular event.
When the Club puts together the fixtures list many factors need to be taken into consideration; which coach will attend the event, is extra poolside assistance is required for example. When you look at the fixtures list you will notice that there is a Notes section for each event that gives additional information for that event - where entries need to go and by when, and what Squads the event is aimed at.
Please bear all this in mind when entering an event and hopefully the experience of competitive swimming will be a pleasant and successful one for all concerned.
Consideration Times
As a number of meet organisers are using the term ‘Consideration Times’ instead of/as well as ‘Qualifying Times’ for their meets, the term does not appear to have a universal definition and is being interpreted differently. In the interests of uniformity the following definition has been agreed by the National Panel:
‘Where a consideration time is set, this will be the minimum standard which a swimmer must have achieved in order to be accepted.’
Thus swimmers may be rejected who have achieved the consideration time, if a meet is oversubscribed, but it is not acceptable to include swimmers who are outside the consideration time if a meet is undersubscribed.
Upper Qualifying Times - Level Two Meets
Level Two meets are intended for qualification for National and District Championships. As a general rule the Upper Limit time should be set no lower than the National Time.
