Amended date for AGM 2012 - Wednesday 6th June 2012 being held in the Crech at CIP, 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. The notice for the AGM can be downloaded here, and the nomination form can be downloaded here. Any nominations for office and any motions for inclusion in the agenda must be submitted to the Secretary by 28th May 2012.

Congratulations - to Ieuan Lloyd on his making the Olympic Team. Click here to see his interview after the 200m Free. Also to David Davies for qualifying for the 1500m Free. Chloe Tutton has also been selected to represent Junior GB in the european Junior Championships.

Club News - Dave Lloyd has kindly volunteered to try and keep our club notice board up to date with club and swimmer news and information. He has set up the following e-mail account, swimnotice@hotmail.co.uk so that any information, news articles, etc. that may be of interest to the membership can be forwarded to him for inclusion on the notice board. It would be great if everyone can offer their support to this, so that all club news can be viewed by all and all our good work and positive results kept up to date! How do I Join the City of Cardiff Swimming Club ?

Trials for the City of Cardiff Swimming Club are held at Cardiff International Pool at 6.00pm on the first Monday evening of each month (excluding Bank Holidays).

Trials for May 2012 will be Monday 14th May and for June 2012 Monday 11th June due to the preceeding BH's

Swimmers should be able to swim to a minimum standard of the ASA's National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) Stage 8.

Those attending a trial should report to reception that they are attending a trial with City of Cardiff SC and once changed swimmers and parents should make their way to the seating area on the poolside by the changing rooms, where one the clubs professional coaches will meet you.

CCSC would like to express our appreciation to Deloitte, the professional services and business advisory firm, for their support to the City of Cardiff Swimming Club. Each year, Deloitte donates a number of laptop computers to community organisations where their people have personal involvement. We have just been awarded one for the second year running after successful bids from Ross Flanigan. One is used by the volunteers who help to run the club and the other is likely to be used by the coaches to help manage, coordinate and monitor swimmers' progress. Thanks Deloitte.

Affiliate Scheme

CCSC have signed up for an affiliate programme, whereby if purchases or bookings are made through the links below, a percentage of the booking fee or purchase price will be returned to the club. These funds will then be used to support Club events and trips, to the benefit of swimmers and parents alike.

ASA National Youth Championships, July 2011

4 Golds, a Silver and Top Male for Cardiff Swimmers at the ASA National Youth Championships Sheffield July 2011. The full report can be downloaded here

European Junior Championships, Belgrade, 6^th – 10^th July 2011

At the beginning of July this year, the British Gas GBR Junior British Swimming team, under their head coach, Dave Haller attended the European Junior Swimming Championships, which were held at the Tasmajdan Sport and Aquatic Centre in Belgrade between the 6^th and the 10^th July 2011.

Cardiff Swimmers Chloe Tutton (14) and Ieuan Lloyd were members of the team, which finished first, beating off competition from teams from Italy, Russia, Germany and France. British swimming have described the team as the most successful European Juniors for 3 years.

Ieuan Lloyds was the star of the Boys team, winning Gold medals in the 200 IM (2:01.57), and the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay, where he swam the final leg in a time of 1:48.98.

Chloe won a Silver medal as a member of the girls 4 x 100m relay, swimming the second leg in 56.76. She also finished 6^th in the 200IM final with a time of 2:19.03. She is eligible to compete in the competition again next year

Taunton Deane Open Meet, 7th - 8th May 2011

Congratulations to all the swimmers who took part in the Taunton Dean Open Meet, at Millfield. With some excellent swims, we came away with the top club award, and Lois Masters won top Girl. Well done everyone.
