Cancelled Session D1 - D1's training session for Wednesday 10th March is cancelled, as there is no coach available to cover the squad.

Changes to Training, Saturday 6th & 13th March. Due to events at CIP, training for P1-P4 will be as follows. There will be no land training on these dates:

Club Restructuring Please click here to see information re proposed restructuring of the club. Information about the new club timetable (WEF 4th January 2010) and the new squad names can be viewed below. There will be no immediate change in squad fees, with them being reviewed in the normal annual review at the end of the financial year.

New rules on Swimming Costumes (with effect from 1st January 2010).

There have been a couple of rule changes which relate to swimming costumes. The new rules aim to ban swim suits that give an "unfair advantage" to swimmers. This can be from boyancy or muscle support. The new rule also bans suits extending beyond the shoulder or the ancle (so no sleeves or feet). These rules come into effect from 1 January 2010.

The competitor must only wear one swimsuit, in one or two pieces which:

1 for men (boys) shall not extend above the navel or below the knee or (ie NO body suits at all)

2 for women (girls) shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below the knee.

3 All swimsuits shall be made of textile materials. (this has yet to be defined but is taken to mean porous - no more rubber or part rubber suits and no Zips).

4. All swimsuits must be listed on FINA's List of Approved Swimsuits on the day of competition and worn without modification

How do I Join the City of Cardiff Swimming Club ?

Trials for the City of Cardiff Swimming Club are held at Maindy Pool at 7.15pm on the first Thursday evening of each month. Swimmers should be able to swim to at least National Plan for Teaching Swimming(NPTS) Level 8. The club's welcome pack, with information about us can be downloaded here. Swimmers and parents should make their way to the cafeteria / viewing area and let the club coach / representative know they are there.

CCSC would like to express our appreciation to Deloitte, the professional services and business advisory firm, for their support to the City of Cardiff Swimming Club. Each year, Deloitte donates a number of laptop computers to community organisations where their people have personal involvement. We have just been awarded one for the second year running after successful bids from Ross Flanigan. One is used by the volunteers who help to run the club and the other is likely to be used by the coaches to help manage, coordinate and monitor swimmers' progress. Thanks Deloitte.

Sian Harkin Sets New Record

On the 19th and 20th December 2009, swimming at the Plymouth Leander Open Meet, at Millfield, Sian swam the 50m Butterfly in a time of 27.84. She beat the British Age Group record (which had stood for 14 years) by 0.03 seconds, also breaking her own Welsh Junior record.

At the Dragon Meet on 8th 10th January 2010, she took further time off her own record, swimming the event in 27.78 seconds.

Club Championships 2009

Congratulations to all who swam in the club championships 2009. It was another well-organised event by our committee of volunteers. This event was licensed for the second year running giving all swimmers a chance to get official times which they can use for future gala entries. There were some great swims at all ages and it was good to see the whole club from under 7’s to our top international swimmers competing in the same event! In some heats international swimmers were seen swimming against our younger swimmers! A little intimidating perhaps but a great experience, and it will be nice for our juniors to talk of racing against GB swimmers with their friends!

Those swimmers entering their first gala deserve a particular mention. Quite an experience! And didn’t they do well!!

Overall I am sure all will remember the championships as a great two days bringing the youngest swimmers to a quality event with Team GB internationals and demonstrating a strong, successful and happy club! Many thanks to our committee for all the time and effort they put in to make it the top quality gala it was. We look forward to all meeting again on Nov 7^th at CIP for presentations and fun!!
