Swim Wales (Formerly Welsh Amateur Swimming Association) is in the forefront in the introduction of Child Protection policies. Our Club fully supports the principal of all adults with significant access to children - coaches, officials and volunteers to be CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checked prior to them working with any of our under 18 members.

City of Cardiff Swimming Club’s Child Protection Officer is Mr Sam Carson, pictured below.

Sam has worked with children, young people and their parents/guardians for over 25 years and brings with him vast experience of the needs of the Child. Initially as a teacher; then as Senior Educational Psychologist, Sam now works for Cardiff’s Sure Start. He has worked for the Local Education Authority for the last 14 years - seeking to ascertain the child and their parent’s wishes; and helping them to obtain appropriate arrangements and provisions.

Sam’s role as an Officer of the Club is to provide advice and guidance to all members and Officers of the Club in all matters relating to the safety and welfare of the young person; also acting as a filter with the various Governing Bodies, Advisory Groups and Associations, relating to all matters of Child Protection & Welfare.

Should any member require advice, guidance or help in any way, they may speak to Sam in complete confidence as detailed below. Subject to the nature of the enquiry, Sam will be able to advise or enact according to the nature of the enquiry.
